A recently published study has found infestation deterrents to be highly effective against permethrin-resistant head lice.
The paper by Yoon et al., published in the September 2015 edition of the Journal of Medical Entomology investigated the deterrent properties of Elimax lotion against head lice via in vitro assessment.
The assessments showed that permethrin-resistant female head lice exhibited significantly higher avoidance responses to treated hair tufts when laying eggs compared to a known insect repellent. A marked deterrent effect was also observed via a competitive avoidance assay.
