New Review of Lice Treatments

Created on 29.09.14

A new critical review of head lice treatments covers the latest treatment methods and clinical trial methodology.

The review by Feldmeier, published in the October 2014 edition of American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, covers the rise of resistance to pymethrins and related treatments, and outlines the new treatments which have been developed to resolve the resistance issue.

The review comprises sections on spinosad, isopropyl myristate, 1,2-octanediol, ivermectin, plant-based products and dimeticones. The safety and efficacy of these treatments is commented on, as well as the degree to which the randomised controlled trials fulfil expert requirements.
