A report by Chosidow et al., published in the December 2015 edition of the Archives de Pediatrie urges closer attention be paid to the use of ivermectin to treat head lice in young infants.
While ivermectin has been shown to be safe, including in infant and child studies, side effects and a lack of marketing authorization for children weighing less than 15 kg presents risks which have not yet been fully understood.
